With winter just around the corner, you wouldn't want anything to jeopardize what you can do to help keep a warm and comfortable home. Naturally, you think that your heater works just as wonderfully because it did last year. But in reality, you probably haven't even turned it on once throughout the hot summer months, and so, how do you know whether it's in working order?

In order to find out in case your furnace is working properly, check the following:

Is the ability switch turned on? This may seem obvious to many, but sometimes it can be switched off not understanding and cause quit a panic! In case your thermostat won't display the correct information, or flashes a repeating message than just replace the batteries.
Is the blower compartment door properly aligned and secure? Otherwise, this could keep the heat from reaching a long way away rooms in your home.
Are there any blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers? This is often easily fixed with a specialist so be sure to call if this sounds like the case.
Is your thermostat set towards the "HEAT" position? Note: your furnace will not heat your house faster should you set the temperature to the highest point possible. Ensure that it stays set at a reasonable temperature.
Is the filter clean? Otherwise, fix it right away! Filters should be cleaned monthly in order to prevent low air flow and other problems!
